The other thought i had with dark pact was 1 mana deal 2 to a friendly minion....if that kills it heal for 8...sure it can pop lakeys...but not cubes...

they just need to learn the lesson that finding specific cards and cheating mana costs should not happen at the same time. every time they combine the two things it's a problem.

Exactly. Tutoring cards can be broken so easily. Even more so when your print Dark Pact, Possessed Lackey, and Voidlord in the same set. Oh, and guess what? We still have Gul’dan to cheat up to 30 mana worth of stats. Wild can be crazy but Standard should be about fair decks.

fwiw i don't think cubelock is "unfair" so much as strong enough to limit a lot of options in the format. it's a powerful strategy that is currently working as the format's gatekeeper right next to call to arms

combo needs to exist for the meta to be healthy, and i don't think this meta is unhealthy. but it is somewhat unbalanced, and the steps needed for your average deck to compete against voidlords are a little silly. this much silence indicates a problem on some level

I agree there needs to be Combo decks. Mind Blast Priest, to me, is the best example of a balanced combo deck right now. Beatable yet good.

yeah i mean that's more of a control deck with two mind blasts but i see what you mean. there's always going to be a combo deck boogeyman though. people have really visceral reactions to those kinds of decks
