Looking at the top 10 of Masters Tour Jonkoping right now and there are 8 players I've never heard of. Kind of a sad reflection of the state of the competitive health of the game right now.

tbh i hate this take for the entirety of the current system, people have had concerns about the accessibility of hearthstone competition. now there are people breaking out and their performance is being actively disrespected

the move to online-only and the increased amount of slots available in gm means that players who are committed and grind and work can actually achieve goals that could have been out of reach before it's possible that we are seeing the rise of players we WILL recognize for years

I'm 100% sure the players who finished top 8 worked incredibly hard and I understand this sounds like an attack on them, but it isn't. I'm sorry but I think your take is rooted in positive thinking rather than on objective facts.

The current crop of GM are being replaced and will continue to be replaced by new players who demonstrate that they have what it takes to outperform them. It will be difficult to get in, but I honestly think GM doesn’t have the best players in the game right now.

GM drops arent really getting replaced by the best players in the game either. You get top 8 at a tournament once and you make it to NA.
