You ever find it ironic we complain that an esport's meta is stale after a month, yet we still love to play and/or watch baseball or hockey which barely changed in decades? There are also games that don't have nearly as much variation (RL, CS:GO) and yet are still super popular.
I wonder how much to the players comes down to the physical limitations of sports. We can consume and play a lot more of any video game than people can for traditional sports. At my peak of hockey I was on the ice at most 15 hours a week
