So I just played a double elysiana mirror. Both games last 31 turns and lasted 27/24 minutes respectively. If the match goes to 3 games you’re looking at about an hour and a half per round. That’s 12 hours of Swiss plus single elim if one elysiana mirror goes to 3 games.

Another factor to the time length is that players aren’t dropped went they are mathematically out of top 8. Kyle said in the discord that qualifying for Vegas isn’t the only purpose of the cups and I’m going to guess that it’s also to show new players competitive hearthstone.

I do think the best course of action, in the short term, is to ban Elysiana but it doesn’t fix the fundamental issues of the open cups. Maybe forcing a round timer fixes the length issues, maybe changing it from Swiss to single elim would fix the length issue.

I do think that Blizzard should have 2 tiers of open cups: 1 to qualify for Vegas (or wherever the other LANs are going to be held) 2 with only pack rewards to cater to newer players/those who don’t care about Vegas.
