I feel like it will deeply hurt the competitive Hearthstone scene since there is almost 0 chance to get into the grand masters if you aren’t directly invited. Very likely many people will give up. Having 50% + players rotate annually would make for a much more interesting format.

There is basically 0 point in winning one of the major events (Vegas etc...) except for cash which is incredibly sad and frustrating.

Doesnt winning Vegas make you incredibly likely to get into GM? If they'd rotate that many players noone could ever commit to being a pro either since youd get rotated out just as quick and all storylines are lost. But I agree there could be some more relegations possibly

Size of the league is small. 16 is a conservative number. Would like it to expand in the future. Expansion could be expanding to 32 players/2 divisions. Bottom players relegate out. Another option is a Challenger system that floats 16 players for promotion, but less glory & $$.

Yeah my biggest concern with this is the size/turnover, and the implications for players outside the league. Seems hard to aspire to make it in when there’s only two spots. If there are 3 masters tourneys, it’s possible to win and not even make it in to GM.

The post makes it sound like people in relaxation situations can still stay in too.... imagine going 0-X in the league and being able to stay in because you beat the Vegas champ in a best of X
