    “Hey Andrew, why make a whole app when you could just chromecast or airplay the videos?” 1. Embedded playlists don’t go between videos when chrome casted. And requires a hard refresh to play another video 2. Airplay basically does the same thing (same bug)

    I really want to publish a good Apple TV app for kikbak but: - YouTube provides no way of streaming hd video outside of their iframe - Apple TV doesn’t allow iframes crime within an Apple TV app - I really don’t want to break YouTube’s tos by downloading and hosting the videos

    Speaking of static websites all of the above examples were built using 's next.js which makes building these websites a breeze! also makes all of this automation possible. CLUG apps will generally use a lot of octokit in their CI scripts.

    The key with CLUG is to rely heavily on CI to: - run cron jobs to create/merge PRs - release to gh-pages on every merge (or nightly) With this you can easily manage a static website that gets generated from simple JSON data, all without setting up any databases or servers. 🎆

    This way of building an app is super useful when you want everything to be contained in 1 repo + a gh-pages website. You can either generate an issue through query string params or do client side oauth in gh-pages to generate PRs 🎉

    When using semver you can make breaking changes without releasing a major if you're <1.x. This can be confusing for consumers. 🎉 Add this label to your "autorc" for a special section in your changelogs to notify consumers they might break

    4. It seems like basically every JS tool known to npm needs specific logic in either yarn or the tool itself plus additional configuration any editor plugins. At this point it honestly a configuration nightmare. I can't even get my basic dev setup working without lots of work.

    I like the bleeding edge as much as anyone but yarn V2 really not compatible with my workflow right now: 1. jest mocking gets futzed with (heard from a freind) 2. typescript doesn't work (OOTB at least) 3. By extension vscode doesn't really work
