Lots of people talking about cost of nursery fees. We’re grappling with this at the moment. There’s one nearby that cost £71 for a HALF day. Full time £113.60. That’s £1,420 for 4wks half days £2,272 for 4wks full time. Approx £18,460 part time annually. Or £29,536 full time

Here's a thread about the power of #volunteers. I've had the privilege of being part of the @Forster_Comms that for the last 6 months has been supporting the Better Social Housing Review, a independent panel examining ways to improve the quality of #socialhousing 1/

Actual food prices vs inflation - the Government can't ignore the need to uprate benefits for struggling families.
Quote Tweet
Great work by the @ONS today, with its new measure of impact of inflation on the basic foods many people rely on. Well done @BootstrapCook for pushing this issue. 👏

Well this is horrific.

To my friends in the media: This is a time of high drama, I agree. But while you gossip endlesly about who's in and who's out, you have almost entirely ignored the Public Order Bill that was passed in the Commons this week: the most draconian legislation of the modern era.

'Benefits Street Culture'? Terrifying indeed. Patronising, ill-informed, and completely disconnected from reality. Poverty is not a lifestyle choice.

Excellent thread from the brilliant . Cutting benefits is rationing decency.

.@MattChorley #TimesRadio 1. Benefits are not wages. Part of their job is to protect the basic living standards of children. Cutting benefits is rationing decency. 2. Benefits haven't kept pace w. earnings or inflation - we've had many years of real term benefit cuts since 2010

No. No. No. You cannot try to clear up this mess by making the worst off pay for it. In recent years we’ve already seen deepening poverty & rising destitution. Millions are already going without essentials. Basic benefit rates are already at a 40 yr low in real terms. So no.

New. Chris Philp confirms on #peston that the government has NOT decided if benefits will be uprated in line with inflation this Autumn, as promised by @RishiSunak As I reported earlier.

It’s been a tough few days. The Government has launched an #AttackOnNature. But YOU have stood up for wildlife. In your hundreds of thousands. Because YOU care. And you are being heard. Thank you, all of you. 🙏❤🌍 But there’s more to do … (short!) thread 1/4
