Ethereum users are finally figuring out what it's like to get their eyes gouged out with transaction fees. In TradFi, the exchanges are the culprit. In DeFi, the protocol + miners are the culprit.
I get your point, including data fees makes the metaphor more clear. Institutions always feel like they're paying exchanges too much - now Ethereum users can share in that pain

yes, i feel like one can make a really loose analogy to what's happened in the unbundling of content in the cable/satellite world. the tradfi infrastructure pretty good/efficient and getting better. to go and unbundle it with medley of protocols seems...not cheap
