Ethereum users are finally figuring out what it's like to get their eyes gouged out with transaction fees. In TradFi, the exchanges are the culprit. In DeFi, the protocol + miners are the culprit.

do exchanges gouge on fees? pretty sure on notional basis exchange fee (for a security or derivative) is fraction of whatever is charged on defi platform.

I get your point, including data fees makes the metaphor more clear. Institutions always feel like they're paying exchanges too much - now Ethereum users can share in that pain

In DeFi, its proof of work.. Best not to conflate the costly consensus algorithm with all potential defi solutions. God I can't wait until PoW goes away
