Gary Gensler is signaling continuity with Jay Clayton in taking a tough stance on crypto. I'm a little unclear on why crypto enthusiasts thought GG would be great news for stuff like bitcoin ETF approval etc just because he taught a blockchain class at MIT.
If you watch his first couple classes he was very clear he likes blockchain technology but is not a huge fan of unregulated cryptocurrencies. Interest in the tech does not mean a loose grip on the industry.
