This is the million $ question and one I'm actively trying to better understand. Like any retail consumer company brand matters a ton & Coinbase is the #1 crypto brand in the US. My guess is most retail customers won't care to switch unless a big trigger causes them to change.
Coinbase Pro is arguably CB's biggest threat right now with arguably better functionality & lower fees, but we don't see everyone switching to it. Ease of use matters more in crypto than investors may first appreciate

there are two types of crypto exchanges: fiat-to-crypto (like
$COIN) and crypto-to-crypto (like FTX or Binance). seems to me like coinbase pro falls into the latter category and will surely lose to binance/FTX as long as they are offered in the US -- which i dont believe they are -
when you say CBPro is a threat to CB, is this implying that CB does not own CBPro? i havent read the CB S1
