i think our friend arbitrage comes in long before 100% dark market share. (i assume we're talking about dark, as opposed to off-exchange; there are dark venues on exchanges, such as mid peg orders, and non-exchange lit venues, such as intelligentcross aspen.)
I’m curious about how much share exchanges as a whole can lose before a natural floor in volume is hit (if that even exists). I guess the lit/dark balance comes into play when assessing that
are exchanges losing share, or just not participating in incremental volume from a constituency from which they've never been directly relevant?
Interesting point - Would that mean that exchanges shouldn’t worry about losing out on this incremental volume? On-exchange share matters not?
