Absolutely - there is certainly a lot of depth to the bank/exchange relationship worth digging into. Banks are arguably an exchange's biggest customer, and are behind many of their formations in the first place. Examples: MEMX Tradeweb MarketAxess ICE BrokerTec BATS Etc...

Yes, indeed! Our feeling is that it‘s a weird relationship as they‚re both customers & competitors in different parts of the value chain which is also shifting over time: eg with the fragmentation of equity markets or CCPs, but also with cooperations eg DB1 €clearing/CurveGlobal
