Knowledge seeking in college vs after graduating is like two different worlds. In one it's all about getting grades which destroys intrinsic motivation. In the other the knowledge itself is the ends. So much more freedom to go down rabbitholes too..
Whats ironic is the motivation is higher after school, but time to go down rabbit holes is way lower.

I have a theory that many of the people that allowed themselves to not succomb to grade chasing/didn't like school but still did okay are much more likely to actively pursue knowledge after graduating.
