      In other market-structure news: the SEC has just given the green light to @IEX's D-Limit order type, after a big comment-letter battle. Proposal had backing from buy side firms like Vanguard and Allianz; Citadel Securities and @Nasdaq opposed it

      naive question: why does @IEX need SEC permission to add an order type on their own exchange ? phrased differently, what kind of things can go wrong if folks are allowed to transact using order types of their own design or choosing ?
