That is interesting. I guess this isn't an attempt to match orders on the floor but give floor brokers the ability to use floor infrastructure to trade, if they didn't have better tech off the floor. Cause w/o a dmm - there's no human to provide a quotehttps://twitter.com/GuFinProf/status/1261252745497018368 …

@NYSE floor to partially reopen May 26 WITHOUT DMMs on the floor. What will the floor brokers do? But the real question is what will @CNBC do. :) @ltabb @SpencerMindlin pic.twitter.com/5vC9jzXAH8

Also means no value proposition for IPOs at @NYSE over @Nasdaq as long as DMMs arent on the floor

not at all. you assume that NYSE IPOs and floor trading are linked. They are not. Doing an IPO from the floor is about branding not execution. Now it probably helps for DMMs and floor brokers to aggregate demand but really the company is looking for a branding event.

I'm talking more about the pitch that NYSE listed names are less volatile because of the DMMs - I guess that is still valid even when they're working from home...

I think pitch is real. Since the floor closed the NYSE has lost a over 2% (2.2%) market share - more than others. In fact, only exchange to grow share during this was EDGX. Also as you see below - TRF flow broke a record in April at 41.6% market share. I think that's retail flowpic.twitter.com/VMmw8XKAGq

Thanks for laying out, that’s helpful. Interesting to see TRF share tick up amid the volatility, normally share moves on-exchange when volumes spike. Is that all due to floor closures you think?

No, I think its two things. 1) retail 2) institutions repositioning With folks at home with nothing to do, lots of volatility,& commission free trading & with all the volatility and radical shifts in economic thinking - institutions are dramatically shifting what they own
