I used that collaborative approach in Colorado, and, today, our state has:
Near universal healthcare
The #1 economy in the country, 3 years in a row
Tough methane regulations
Universal background checks and magazine limits
Reliable broadband in all 64 countiesShow this thread -
We also partnered with a private foundation to make long-acting reversible contraception (“LARC”) affordable to ALL women in CO, starting at age 15. The program:
reduced teen pregnancy rate by 54%
reduced teen abortion rate by 64%
saved taxpayers $70 million over 5 yearsShow this thread -
We went to the state legislature to get permanent funding to support the program. Some Republicans refused. CO foundations helped fund it that year, and we continued our dialogue with Republicans. The next year, the program’s funding passed with bipartisan support.
