Honestly I 100% believe Daigo got it wrong here. Decision speed and knowledge are not mutually exclusive, in SFV I can have vast knowledge and gauge matches by risk reward, but that alone should not be enough to dominate at top level.

If Daigo is referencing player 'styles' then that will always be a weakness. Pigeon holing yourself into some type of player specialist always gets figured out with time.

Damn, as an old player myself, I have to honestly admit what he's saying is true across the board. I see what they're doing recently, but nonetheless, I just find this style of fighting less fun and overall slower and less enjoyable. I like high speed BS.
