    This movie is produced by Warner Bros., which also produces the DC comics movies. Early in the movie, we briefly see Batman and (I think) Batgirl, so we know those characters were not off limits

    (Context: I love The Iron Giant and was terrified this movie would ruin it for me. Luckily, it didn't, and I couldn't help but smile to see it in action again.)

    The VR world of the book and film ("The Oasis") is a place where people inhabit their favorite characters from all sorts of movies, video games, etc. And, as we see in the trailer, one character has built a replica of the Iron Giant.

    I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed Ready Player One. It shares many of the same flaws that bugged me about the book it's adapted from, but overall I thought it was a BIG improvement over the source material.
