‘Broken food system’ is a popular term right now. Yet today we have the most affordable, safest & most widely accessible food supply in the history of our species. It’s been able to offer up plenty amid a global pandemic, as most of us to sit on the sofa. Define ‘broken’?

I define broken as in capitalism has decided that people should starve in spite of a productive system.

I have sympathy with that idea. But... Most of the biggest famines in human history occurred under communism.

One problem with this particular debate is that "genocide" simply isn't a meaningful term anymore—and probably never was. Time to retire it.

The term has been subject to drastic scope creep, with many using it to include such stuff as "teaching classes in English"...

The narrower concept, the one everyone thinks of with horror, is mass murder. I'd rather this were simply called "mass murder"

The term was invented in 1944. The UN defined it in 1948 in The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. That definition was... Way broader than you apparently comprehend. (1)
