    YUP. Definitely clarifying. Rod is yet another brilliant conservative writer no one has the guts to hire.

    I've publicly argued with Kevin Williamson (who's a friend) over harsh things he's written, but he is one of the bravest and most talented writers I know. The Atlantic's cutting him loose under left-wing fire is deplorable. But clarifying. Definitely clarifying.

    How many Atlantic writers support late-term abortions and no restrictions? Those positions would never disqualify them from the platform...

    Kevin was adopted and he feels strongly about abortion. But it is the height of cowardice that his opinion on abortion is beyond the pale and those on the left never have to answer for snuffing out hundreds of thousands of lives.

    Last night Conor, who I truly believe is a principled and fair guy even when I disagree, suggested that I was unfair to Dan Rather (and more generally Ted Kennedy?) — very curious to know what he thinks of his employer’s treatment of Kevin Williamson.

    I’d urge a different course: judging what he says on the merits rather than dragging out the worst moment of his career as if it renders everything else wrong. The same applies to Ted Kennedy, and I grant that his worst was awful and under-covered.

    “We,” meaning the left. Conservatives insisted that the facts suggested Islamism. Because we understand the ideological nature of the threat.

    Facts matter. It now appears that the attack on Pulse nightclub was more Islamist and less homophobic than we thought. And that an innocent victim of spousal abuse sat in prison for a year because we wanted to have a politically convenient narrative about the horrific murders.
