I wish Google Maps had a "I'm walking home by myself at night" mode that would show you a way with well lit paths and open spaces. It always seems to take you on narrow, dark pathways in cities

Same for accessible routes. It doesn’t mention if a route involves e.g. a footbridge over a railway line. You only find out when you’re pushing a buggy that you have to completely retrace your steps and find an alternate route.

Ah, yes, it once tried to send me through a very much locked military-use tunnel under a six-lane motorway once. The only other way to the other side was an additional one hour walk. Good thing I am reasonably fit and not scared of walking through woodland alone.
