Students do not like giving short presentations, but I like it. It forces them to identify the most important or interesting points of the work to communicate. Often they’ll try to jam everything in. I struggle with this too, but my shorter simpler talks are more well-received.

One nice thing about the very last day with a class (final exam day in this case) is that I have students who thank me, which is greatly appreciated. They shake my hand and one student even gave me a hug, which was totally unexpected. It’s always nice to be thanked.

Mental health of students often gets overlooked but is extremely important. So glad and are investing time and resources to do a study about it and hopefully help provide suggestions for universities provide to help students.

And thank you to my own mentors ( ) during my PhD and postdoc who showed me what good mentoring is and led labs with positive dynamics that made research fun. Doing my best to provide the same for my students and lab.

Another paper! Does your perceived fall risk align with your physiological fall risk? If not, can this be shifted? We are investigating this perspective of fall risk in older adults with collaborators in the UCF College of Nursing.

It’s always fun to have friends talk about their cool research to the class! Technology makes it easy to have virtual guest speakers and students seem to enjoy these classes.

Each desk had a note. The front desk had “I’m asking a question.” Then next desk had “I’m next to ask a question.” The 3rd desk had “I’m in line to ask a question.” I think it worked well. Thanks to inquisitive minds for asking so many good ?’s

Wouter and Krissy presented a few slides and then the students asked questions. I had 3 desks set up in front of the webcam for students to ask questions in an orderly manner and where I didn’t have choose.
