1. Today marks 1 year since the last time I flew.
I went to DC to moderate an Aspen Institute panel on the new coronavirus. @WHCOS, @DrNancyM_CDC & Tony Fauci were on the panel. For me the event was surreal — the Titanic had a gaping hole but we were drinking tea on the deck.

3. Today is also the anniversary of when the new coronavirus stopped being called 2019-nCoV.
@WHO named the disease#Covid19; the virus that causes it was named SARS-CoV-2. Then-CDC director Redfield told me he didn't think Covid-19 would stick. His prediction didn't age well.pic.twitter.com/9JLs6oKTFK

Hindsight is always 20/20. Interesting to see the calculation that Fauci made. Thanks for your great work-as always.

Branswell was disagreeing back then, many were. That's called foresight, not hindsight.

Totally agree. I remember hearing "the risk is low" on CNN and offering my opinion to the television that this might be a temporary situation. They should have said "the risk is low *at the moment* ." The time element was missing from their communications.

The reporters were ordered to say “The risk is low” here after every Covid story for weeks. I was called a “ fear monger” for posting about the danger of the virus.

Sadly, I don't think it seemed "real" to a lot of political and other leaders in North Americans until it hit a European country ie.Italy.
