Very interesting piece. I wasn't very hopeful last January that the origins of the outbreak could be teased out; I'm much less hopeful now. But there's a pattern. SARS-1. H5N1. H7N9. SARS-2. We should assume this list will grow.https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2020-12-30/china-is-making-it-harder-to-solve-the-mystery-of-how-covid-began …

This is what was occurring in BSL2 and BSL3 labs in November of 2019... There are multiple lab studies showing interesting results regarding humanized mice and SARS-CoV2 https://twitter.com/OneOfMany3421/status/1306671434790510595 …

Has there ever been a link found between any of these outbreaks and the megasized poultry farms? I feel the need to educate myself on the livestock industry and responsible practices.

I have no reason to doubt this story, but I would note that @Bloomberg seems to have blown another juicy story about China in the past.https://www.cjr.org/the_media_today/bloomberg-apple-microchip-hack.php …

Is there anything we can do about it ? Hope there is one day when people would be made accountable for their deeds ! Coz it seeme no one is interested to tackle the bull by its horns 😑 Guess @WSJ @timesofindia @guardian & other prominent media houses won’t be publishing this.

I don't understand your point. The exhibitions etc. in Wuhan don't mean much, and if as the article suggests is likely the disease began well before Wuhan and evolved through a series of mutations, official teams to Wuhan are not like to be key to figuring it out.

My point is figuring out the source was always going to be a needle in a haystack effort. 12 months later, the haystacks have been removed, the field plowed over, and another crop is being grown.

this will likely be resolved by sequences in animals. As it was with SARS1,MERS,H5N1,H7N9 etc. China stopped or delayed the sequencing, but the bats (pangolins? etc.) are also in other countries.

We know how it got started. We know how it got out of hand. We know how it was bungled. We will all know.
