Asymptomatic spread might or might not be important (exported cases suggests it is). But those with mild symptoms (thinking they’ve got a ‘virus’) undoubtedly have the potential to spread. There is still too much reference to SARS. This looks different.

I'm not a health professional, but, objectively, I think that all of this transmission is to be expected. Especially since the virus can often be communicated w/o others anyone being aware. No matter how good containment is, there will always be the possibility of a lag... +

...for all the people who came in contact with the affected person before he/she became ill or tested positive. Every country seems to be making a decent effort at containment efforts, which *should* slow-down transmission. At the same time, we need to be prepared for... +

I just read an interview with the head of the Swedish CDC. He argued that there was no evidence of asymptomatic transmission and that the NEJM article should never have been published. Hence no need to contact trace first Swedish patient. Is that the scientific consensus?
