Taking whatever steps are possible to slow spread of the virus. Ready health care systems to safely handle severe cases if/when they present. Work on a vaccine. Figure out the true severity, which could be substantially less than currently appears.

I truly hope resignation to the idea of uncontainable pandemic does not guide policy when we haven’t even taken basic steps that could facilitate containment while there’s still a chance: limiting travel and interaction, quarantines for those at high risk, enhanced screening, etc
