Bc of donations to #CitizenPresence, we have been able to fund some of #KatieJoyce expenses. She has been able to go to El Paso immigration court many days, sometimes bringing other observers. Her observations are increasingly knowledgeable bc informed by prior visits. 1/
Some extracts follow, from notes by #KatieJoyce, with my comments. As a legal scholar, I am appalled by the slapdash tenor of the proceedings in El Paso immigration court. While these ~may~ conform to letter of law, this is no way to achieve meaningful justice. 2/

Of course, #KatieJoyce feels helpless in the face of dysfunctional immigration court proceedings - but she is in fact helping by letting other ordinary Americans know her experiences and observations. We can work together to demand justice for asylum seekers. 9/
