Those two are my preferred candidates at this point, but there are other good combinations that suffer from the same practicality problem. Again, just stupid. 2/

I want to live in a country where a Harris-Warren or Warren-Harris ticket would be just another ordinary possibility, instead of something that we simply cannot have without seeming wildly impractical. It is so stupid that we can’t just have the 2 best people on the ticket. 1/

And yes, I appreciate that “best” ticket has, at some level, to mean a ticket that other voters go for - I’m not saying I know for certain what would be the best ticket, certainly not now, and maybe not ever. 3/

But I do know that there is no reason to presuppose that the two best people for the Dem pres ticket definitely must include one straight white male. And yet I know that in practice one slot is reserved for such a man. 4/

This epitomizes the preferential treatment we afford straight white men. No matter who else is available, we all just have to accept that the 2024 Democratic pres-veep ticket will include one person from that demographic. 5/

We can have great people on the ticket. But America is SO dumb it won't elect them. In the case of the EC, it has given the job in 2016 to the lesser qualified man rather than the more qualified woman. How very... AMERICAN. It's what we do best: STUPID.
