    Trans was always going to overshadow the rest of the 🏳️‍🌈 movement because it’s about more than gender & sexuality. Trans is part of the assault on the old (ie Enlightenment) definition of the real.

    I’m not sure what the solution might be, if there is one, but I feel it must involve thinking & acting in ways that are beyond the purely political & beyond the State.

    I agree, but the implication of this is that fascism will succeed. In reality fascism is obsolete & would also be doomed were it to be attempted.

    If you want to understand why conservatism is doomed to fail this conversation is an excellent example

    The hobbyhorse tendency says something not only about the need to create a brand, but also about 20th century specialisation—the totality of knowledge became so vast it was no longer possible to ‘know everything’ in the Renaissance manner.

    All these thinkers founded a school of thought. Eg McLuhan was key to the invention of media studies, & both Virilio & Kittler followed him in his focus on the technological (which had been anticipated in the 1920s & 30s by Jünger). [..]
