3. Once Goldwater's GOP made foundational decision in 1964 to oppose civil rights, path of national party was hard to escape: they were beholden to white constituency which meant any attempts to diversify would be risky.

The chart is a good indicator of the ideological acceleration of the Democratic party since 2016. The pursuit of parity (gender or otherwise) is a reflection of the leftwing view that the ruling elite assigns meaning to society, and that individuals do not exist outside of that.
