There is something broadly true about this. A lot of Democrats really did seem to let consultants and Republicans spook them into pivoting AWAY from the ruling party’s historic corruption and criminality. At least until this week.https://twitter.com/maxbergmann/status/999105397737877510 …

There's an argument that the more partisan it is, the more people will polarize around it and go back to defend their camps. If it's seen as a nonpartisan investigation, you have the chance to bring GOPers over.
-
Bringing GOP voters "over" is a lost cause. They are gone deep into fox news consciousness. A big fight will be communicating with the millions of voters and potential voters who are neither republicans or strong democrats. Maybe never voted at all.

But there is no passion, no fire in the Dems' arguments. Without anger people do not vote. Republicans figured that out long time back.

Yes and no, I think people know the investigation should go on and that firing Mueller would be bad, but they aren’t aware of the mountains of evidence against Trump, guilty pleas, and the obvious obstruction by Trump/Nunes/Ryan.
-
I think Independents and people who don’t follow this closely don’t realize how lopsided this “fight” really is. They are seeing it as another “both sides” issue which is a HUGE win for Trump.

This is the thing...whenever they talk about it people say it’s a mistake and now when they don’t talk about it they say it’s a mistake. If they fail to win big in November the analysis will be that whatever they did on Russia will have been the wrong strategy. Book it.

I don’t know that losing is the right word, but not making the strongest possible plays mainly because they got Jedi mind tricked about going after the unpopular president where he’s weakest.

is there evidence that trump’s corruption is driving folks to the polls? maybe i’m missing it.
