There's a strong affinity between myth scholars & reactionary politics: Jung, Eliade, Campbell, Guenon, Peterson. Northrop Frye, who was a moderate social democrat, is the great exception here.

Definitely true of Tolkien. Lewis could be surprising, but had his reactionary moments; consider The Abolition of Man, arguing for fairly conservative morality based on mythic traditions. Even Mere Christianity had some odd moments, I thought.
