I'm not clear on what @tylercowen means to include in "social liberalism" in this context. Non-heteronormative sexual morality and anti-patriarchy? It's not an "emotional reaction" to see religion standing in the way of that. Because it does.

Sure, I understand your meaning and it's obviously true. But we too often forget that other forms of religion can also be a source of sexual liberalism and equality.
