Nope, still nonsense. Clinton's campaign focused on issues (including anti-racism, which is an issue!) Northam won because of personality! He got in on anti Trump sentiment. Negative partisanship is a tried and true platform.https://twitter.com/HeerJeet/status/988457421084348416 …

Northam's most famous ad was about how his enemy was an unrepentant racist, which he was. She didn't lose the electoral college because you didn't like her ads, enough, Jeet. Come on.
-
IIRC, he was also running many pro-choice ads when many across political spectrum were advising Dems to tone down on repro rights.

This was the biggest error of the C campaign. For low info voters that made up the O12 to T set, TV adds are all they ever see. And she just spun her wheels past the point of diminishing returns on "Trump sucks" and let Trump fool them into believing he was to HC's left on econ.
-
FFS. political scientists aren't even sure that television ads have any effect on anything. Her ads were not just "trump sucks". They were explicit indictments of his racism and sexism, and a statement to dem voters that he would hurt them and hates them.

Trump got a billion dollars in free press air time. Destroying his opponents character. Her message and ads had her win by double digits on the economy. Unless she talked about a muslim ban (terrorism) and a wall(immigration) in ads like he did, she was fucked.pic.twitter.com/ehTPXBkY9B

Russia and Comey were worth way more than 77k votes

You keep saying this, but the *manner in which* Trump is a "bad man" is substantively important! And if there had been no Comey, it might have been "sufficient." That's not an excuse, but rather to say that it wasn't crazy for them to conclude their strategy would work.

there's also a lot of good evidence that negative partisanship motivates voters strongly, and little that positive messages work better in any straightforward way. https://www.thenation.com/article/why-negative-partisanship-is-a-good-thing/ …

He won because he lied to WWC about being a populist plus they LOVED his unabashed racism and the press pretended that HRC had issues with honesty and they loved the trump ratings. Not ads.
