Then look at how to get people to stop voting against their own best interests. There are uninformed/misinformed people in all races/ethnicities.

I’d make the argument that Romney’s 12 run was the R version of HRC’s 16 run, a “Its Their Time and the base isn’t particularly amped about it but still” and he never had much more then a moderate plurality of the base
The GOP is growing into the party of George Wallace so, no, I don't think the party's dying. It's regressing.

Err…not 100% sure about that. Utah GOP is basically structured in caucus form. Which can be easily taken over by radicals(and apparently has been)
