Your point is taken that his appeal is arguably subcultural, but he is not unpopular with the Republic remnant. Now I don't know if the Rs are shrinking because his WS or other repellant qualities of his, but I don't think its a positive or neutral political development.
Second, to Jeet's point, I think this explicit temperament or ideology or whatever you want remaining popular in the economically and politically dominant group in America is pretty disturbing.
But don't all Republican officials have maj white support? & hasn't white supremacy been part of it before Trump? I remember Pete Wilson & his attacks on immigrants in the 90s: prop 187, English only, etc & he was considered a moderate republican.
