1. This thread is a fair response to criticisms that Davidson's article doesn't answer political question of how Trump goes down.https://twitter.com/adamdavidson/status/985543549088423936 …

4. Reading
@rickperlstein excellent The Invisible Bridge (about Watergate & Reagan), I was struck by role televised hearings played in changing public opinion.Show this thread -
5. Watching Nixon's goons flail around in hearings (which became national obsession in 1973/1974) really chipped away at GOP support for president.

6. So far most of Trump's scandals relatively offstage: Mueller's running tight ship, there's lots of reporting from unnamed sources. Only Stormy Daniels telegenic (and she's rattled Trump for that reason, among others).

7. And so far house & senate hearings have been behind closed doors. If Dems take House and/or Senate, they should really push for televised hearings.

8. If there are televised hearings, Fox will of course try to spin or maybe run lots and lots of panda porn. But I think that won't work.pic.twitter.com/cdZ25aeY2S

9. If there are televised corruption hearings, they'll be the biggest news. If Fox tries to counter with Panda Porn strategy they'll lose viewers (even GOP base will want news).

10. And live hearings will also limit ability of anyone to really spin them. I think that's the best way to chip at Trump's support.

Nixon was removed just as the '74 recession pushed u3 from 5.0-6.0 and inflation rose sharply at the same time.

To me the fact that his base doesn’t care about any of this proves that they are all in it for the fascism and white supremacy. It has nothing to do w/their finances, jobs or any of that political crap . It’s his dog whistle.
