That doesn't invalidate that their motivation can sincerely come from the ideology they've indoctrinated themselves into.

Breivik was without doubt a troubled individual who assumed an ideology that allowed him to live out his supremacy fantasies. That doesn't mean he didn't sincerely believe in his ideology.

This isn't a point though. I have pre-existing urges to lose weight. I glommed on to a particular diet to lose that weight because it fit onto my urges well. I was still motivated to lose the weight because of the particular aspects of that diet.
