It should be straightforward for scientists to say that generic genetic linkage studies should not be used to conclusively inform policy.

For example, depression has some genetic linkage. But we don't know what genes are implicated yet, and we may never. Do we treat it as a genetic defect or an environmentally triggered condition? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
