I think the context was that KDW said he hopes that someday abortion would be viewed like any other homicide. Someone replied "So you're saying women who have abortions should go to jail?", hoping to stump him with that. KDW decided to be confrontation and up the ante.

Wasn't he also asked if that applied retroactively & said yes? Which means he wants to execute 25% of women (or roughly 37.5 million Americans).

No, Jessica Valenti tweeted that he said he didn't mean for it to apply retroactively.

Okay, I misremembered. But going forward, he does want to execute women who have abortions. Is that right?

I seriously doubt that, since he has written elsewhere that he has come to generally oppose the death penalty, though some extreme cases (e.g. Dylan Roof) sorely test that belief.

Also, if I understand Damon's tweet correctly, KDW chastised him for discussing his "death penalty for abortion" statement as a serious expression of his actual views.

Yes, that's right. I just don't know what those actual views are, or how he could have been baited into stating his views in the way he did.

Well, that supports Sarah Jones critique that Williamson is a troll more than anything. Which is a problem.

On the other hand it was one provocation in a paper trail of about a billion words.

The internet thing of "finding the offenses/trollings" is just a terrible way to assess writers.

Sure, context collapse & cherrypicking happens. But the critiques I've seen have also focused on longer & very representative pieces.
