I'm a social democrat, not a classical liberal. I have a connection to Marx; but much of that connection is critical. Seems like the same boat that the classical liberals are in.

Agree, but it's telling that you call yourself a social democrat rather than a marxist. My point is that there should be terminological distinction between historical classical liberalism & modern descendants, considering obvious evolution.

What I find strange about modern people calling themselves classical liberals is that it implies other (very different) political orientations aren't also outgrowths of classical liberalism.
