i think this is an accurate assessment. i also worry that dems still think they should be courting suburban white voters to the detriment of their actual base, black women & younger voters

She could have eked out a win through better strategy but fundamentally there is a generational divide in the party and she was always going to carry baggage from the last three decades of Democratic politics.
That was but one of many contributing factors. Too many observers attempt to cite a single cause for the 2016 debacle. Also contributing were things like Russian hacking, Comey’s intervention & uneven media coverage. It was the sum total that saddled is with President Trump.
I wouldn't really consider it "chasing". HRC was simply herself and Trump was Trump. It was Trump who alienated college ed and embraced the working class with his propaganda. At best you can blame HRC bc she couldn't figure out how to react. But she didn't chase Rep votes.
