It's increasingly clear that Clinton didn't just win college educated white voters, but probably won them by a large, even double digit margin. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/27/upshot/trump-losing-college-educated-whites-he-never-won-them-in-the-first-place.html … pic.twitter.com/Oz2I9OCP6m

Yeah, this shows the weakness, not strength, of Clinton's strategy.

Exactly. And the buried lede here is that the exit polls had wwc cohort as 34% of voters and the much more accurate new Pew survey @Nate_Cohn cites has them at *45%*! Which means Dems better get more than 29% of them in 2020.

Better run racist. That's the take-away. Maybe HRC shouldn't have done those rallies with #MothersoftheMovement.

I don't think racism is the only way to appeal to the white working class -- as Democrats have proven before.

Right—and we’re not talking about winning a majority either. And this mostly applies to Midwest + PA and FL. But changing 29% to, say, 35% elects a Democrat president and wins some more senate and House seats, too.

Depends who you're facing. Right/race populism has an insanely high winning percentage in that demographic. Xanadu doesn't beckon there. It just doesn't.

It’s not Xanadu unless you think Obama did that. He didn’t—he just got just enough of a higher % to win twice. And it’s likely that any white candidate will attract a somewhat smaller AA turnout vote too—it’s figuring out how to win. It’s not carrying WY or MS. FL/PA/OH/WI/MI/IA.
