11. The big question is why are Canadians so attracted to Jungian archetypes: Davies, Frye, Peterson, Sim and (although more skeptical) Atwood.
He did an interview with Chester Brown (well into his coming out as a misogynist) where the two of them cheerfully compared their respective loathing of their own physical bodies and biological processes, which I cant help but feel may have had a bearing on various developments.

I think a great deal of Sim's problem is that he's an autodidact. That worked very well for him in comics, where a lot of the received wisdom about how to flourish as a cartoonist, he proved wrong.
But it also left him without any brakes when it came to following stupid ideas into an ideological sinkhole. I flirted with some terrible ideas once. But the fact that smart people around me saw those ideas as beyond ridiculous gave me second thought. No such thing for Sim.
My working theory is that drugs rotted his brain.
