I'm old enough to remember when White Nationalist groups wouldn't accept people with the last name Cruz. But, as always, "race" is a fluid thing.

#racialization seldom makes any sense, as tribal boundaries change over time. Just ask an Irish or Italian immigrant from 100 years ago. (Hypothetically speaking, of course!)

In the 19th Century, my Irish ancestors were thought of as black, i.e., equally degraded and inferior. Sadly, Irish-American immigrants "became white" by embracing racism. Excellent book: *How the Irish Became White."

This is complex. Floridians of Hispanic-Cuban extraction consider themselves "white" with regard to other U.S. Latinos of Mexican, Salvadoran, Puerto Rican, etc. background.

Yes, but white nationalists until fairly recently only thought North Europeans were white. Wouldn't have included Hispanics of any shade.

Some of Nazi Germany's grimmest tools over compensated by direct participation in genocide because they came from the outlands or had names that could be mistaken as Semitic in origin.

Kind of regional. Southern California has had white supremacists with Hispanic surnames since rich white guys started marrying into caudillo families in the 1830s.
