The impact of WW showing BoaN was huge. Usually missed is he was adamant he didn't know the film would celebrate the KKK, he never uttered the praise attributed to him by the film's promoters, & privately said he'd take his disapproval public if they didn't stop false-quoting him

Yet his own racism and desire not to be identified with activists seeking to ban the film prevented him from speaking out publicly. But just wanted to clarify the "written with lightning" claim was promotional BS that he privately hated.
