1. Unlike Jon Kay I wasn't born to wealth. My dad drove cabs, my mom cleaned hospital linen. Yet the excellent Canadian public school eduction I received has made me not just a well-known twitter clown but also gainfully employed. https://twitter.com/jonkay/status/961664599626981376 …

Donald Trump is a perfect example that private school education doesn't always take.

The best one can hope for from education is a path out of ignorance. No school can fix stupid.

@jonkay is commenting on the inclusion of social justice in the curriculum over traditional academic subjects, and you've chosen to attack him and make assumptions about his family instead. You're indeed a Twitter troll -
curious. what's your quibble with the idea of a just society?

1. So I went to a private school in Montreal (three decades ago now, but still), and you're right. Now, my school was much more sedulous in making sure we learned French. But other things I learned then I've since come to see as a function of class.

2. For example, I got a course in economics that gave me a fair understanding of fractional reserve banking that I've since found was *not* given to people of my age cohort who went to Quebec public schools.

To be fair, lots of anglo montrealers who grow up there and go to public school still manage not to learn French. It's not a lack of education, it's classism.
