12. The 1970s cult of Allen was doomed to give way even if we had never learned about his private life, because belief in the Godlike auteur is at odds with collaborative nature of film (and all cultural production).

Interesting explications! But what for? It presumed Mr Allen has done something that requires us to separate him from his art. Literally, it supposes he is a fiend. But we have nothing but a rightfully hurt former companion making such charges. Seems presumptuous this winnowing!
