I think they used to have these tensions but they've largely gone away. I could be wrong and I welcome any Scandinavians that want to jump into the conversation. But this is what I've heard. (I'm ethnically a quarter Norwegian and Swedish but, you know, American.)

Or just consider Quebec within Canada. Race is far less an indicator than culture and language. And people with the largest blind spot about this tend to be Americans (of all political stripes) because they already regard their own culture as the global default.
